No Kings III is almost here!

March 16 Updates

We continue to push back against an ICE Warehouse in Washington County, and plan for No Kings III — what we think will be a record-breaking event!

No Kings III is almost here!

We are in the final weeks of planning No Kings III here in Washington County, and the event promises to be big, and a lot of fun! We have events planned around the County before our main event at the Public Square from 1-3PM. We will share details of the other events in the coming days as times and locations are finalized.

BUT...we still need your help! We need volunteers for the following:

Medics to circulate through the crowd and address any medical issues that may arise

Volunteers to bring bottled water to the Public Square so we can hand them out to the crowd

Safety Marshals: Help keep our protest safe, calm, and organized. Safety Marshals act as extra eyes and ears — supporting participants, watching for hazards, helping de-escalate tense moments, and guiding people if issues arise. No experience needed, just a steady presence and a commitment to looking out for one another.

Car Caravan Participants: Decorate your car and join the protest by driving through downtown Hagerstown as part of the demonstration. This is a great alternative for those who can't or do not wish to to participate on the ground, and for those who have kids who want to be part of history!

Email Alice at: alicejimroberts@gmail.com to let us know which role you’d like to take on. We can't do this without our community. Thanks to those who have already volunteered!

NO ICE Warehouse: Next Steps

What’s Next? Join Us at the March 17 BOCC Meeting — 9am

Why attend? We’re continuing to press commissioners to answer questions about the proposed ICE warehouse facility and its impact on Washington County — and to allow citizens to speak at meetings. We’re also voicing opposition to current federal immigration policies and ICE activity.

Everyone is welcome. We are not calling for statewide turnout at this time, but local participation matters.

Those inside the meeting may join the protest outside after opening comments. Protesters outside can be heard inside the meeting room. One 12"x24" sign per person permitted inside. We'll have our own Public Comment time outside.

If you're visiting from outside Washington County, consider stopping by the warehouse site afterward (about 15 minutes from the county building) at 16220 Wright Rd, Williamsport, MD

Pens to Power

Pens to Power is having our next in-person event on March 22 from 1-4PM. We will be writing postcards to Virginia for an upcoming special election, and getting started on a new Vote Forward campaign! We will also continue to write letters about the ICE facility as needed.

Please RSVP to alicejimroberts@gmail.com to get the address and let us know you're coming. We will be collecting donations for the Eliza's House food pantry, who has requested the following: microwaveable food, peanut butter, jelly, bread, rice, canned goods. Donations of personal hygiene products are also welcome.

We will hold our April gathering on April 19 as the last event in our Washington County Indivisible Weekend of Activism. Please RSVP to alicejimroberts@gmail.com for this one, as well.

Look out for news about an upcoming local postcard campaign. We'll need help getting these postcards out to the community!

As always, we need postcard stamps! If you have stamps you can donate, we would love them, or you can help us out by donating to ActBlue.

UPCOMING VIRTUAL ICE WATCH/RAPID RESPONSE TRAINING

Thursday, March 26th 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Register Here: https://tinyurl.com/ICE-Watch-Mar26

Meeting link will be emailed to you immediately after registering. Please check you spam folders.

This training is community-centered, leaning on the self-agency of impacted community members, and trauma-informed because this work is hard, and we must foster the space by centering and uplifting impacted communities. We hope to see you there!

ADVOCACY

The 2026 MGA session is half over, and our message is Tell Maryland Legislators: Don't Stop at 287(g). Pass the Community Trust Act (HB 1575/SB 791) and Data Privacy Act (HB 711/SB 504). It’s not too late to open your myMGA account to make your voice heard in Annapolis this session!

If you would like to get engaged in this work, click the button below and we will send you a Volunteer Interest Form! If you are more inclined to do Community Care work, there are trainings being scheduled as we speak!
