Join Washington County Indivisible and Hagerstown Rapid Response on Tuesday, August 25 at 9 AM outside the Board of County Commissioners meeting at 100 W. Washington St., Hagerstown—and help us do more than make noise.
We’ll be collecting food, household and hygiene items for Western Maryland families impacted by ICE. Current needs include rice, pasta and sauce, masa flour, canned corn, applesauce, diapers (sizes 6–7), toilet paper, paper towels and hygiene products.

Two Food Drives, One Mission: Supporting Local Families
Help us stock the shelves for local immigrant families affected by ICE detentions at two upcoming community food drives.
Friday, August 28 | 5–10 PM Washington County Indivisible and Hagerstown Rapid Response are teaming up with Hub City Brewery for a food drive benefiting the Western Maryland Immigrant Rights Collective. Bring a donation and receive 50% off your first drink!
Saturday, September 19 | 11 AM–4 PM Visit the Washington County Indivisible table at the Hagerstown City Park Fall Festival and Fireworks. We'll be collecting food and personal hygiene items for families affected by ICE in Western Maryland as part of our celebration of the International Day of Peace.
While you're there, adults and kids can take part in a community art project by creating thank-you cards for first responders, medical workers, or anyone else whose work makes a difference in our community. Bring a friend and introduce them to WCI!
Can't make either event? Nonperishable food donations can also be dropped off anytime at Eliza's House, 35 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.
Suggested donations include rice, beans, pasta, cereal, peanut butter, canned foods, shelf-stable milk, baby food, diapers, baby wipes and other pantry and personal-care staples.

Pens to Power Gets It Done!
What a day! Our August 16 Pens to Power crew wrote 500 postcards to Williamsport residents about the proposed ICE warehouse, completed hundreds more Postcards to Swing States, and started preparing materials for our General Election mailer. We were also thrilled to welcome some new faces to the team!
Our next Pens to Power event is August 30 from 1:00–4:00 PM, when we'll continue writing Williamsport postcards and preparing the General Election mailer. We'll also collect donations for local food pantries and the Western Maryland Immigrant Rights Collective.
Please RSVP to alicejimroberts@gmail.com to receive the address and let us know how many people will be attending.
And we still need FOREVER STAMPS! Thanks to everyone who has already donated stamps or contributed toward their purchase—we're making progress. If you have stamps to spare, bring them to any WCI event or mail them to:
Washington County Indivisible PO Box 87 Clear Spring, MD 21722
Every stamp helps us get one more message into the hands of a voter.
Or make a donation through our ActBlue account.

Signs from the Sky: Your Protest Signs Become Art
Washington County Indivisible is creating our first large-scale protest art project—and we want your signs to be part of it!
Between now and September 6, donate protest signs you've carried over the past several months or create something new. We'll arrange the collected signs into a massive ground collage and capture the finished work from above using drone photography.
The result will become a shareable protest art video released on September 21 in recognition of the International Day of Peace.
Drop off signs at any upcoming WCI protest or event, or email IndivisibleLetters@gmail.com to coordinate a drop-off or pickup.
Want to create something especially large, or bring your artwork on the day of the drone shoot? Let us know. The shoot will take place sometime between September 6–16, depending on weather.
Want your sign back? Put your name and contact information on the back, and we'll return it after the project is photographed.
