WCI: Upcoming Rally, Training & More!

Feb. 10 Updates

Washington County Commissioners Formalize Support for I.C.E.

On February 10, the Washington County Board of Commissioners formalized a resolution expressing support for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) and increased cooperation with federal immigration enforcement while nearly 200 residents protested. The unanimous vote came as plans move forward to convert a local warehouse into an I.C.E. detention and processing facility — one of more than 30 new or expanded facilities currently being developed nationwide.

In stark contrast, the Mayor & Town Council of Williamsport — where the warehouse is located — embraced public comment about the facility during regular session the evening of Feb. 9.

Ages of Activism

Feb. 22nd
2-4 PM | Eliza's House 35 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown

A conversation across generations.

Join us for Ages of Activism, a community conversation designed to bridge the communication divide between younger and older generations. This gathering will create space to share experiences, wisdom, and fresh perspectives — and to explore how people of all ages can work together for meaningful change.

Whether you’re new to activism or have decades of experience, your voice belongs here. Together, we’ll talk about what motivates us, how different generations communicate and organize, and how we can turn shared values into positive community action.

All ages are welcome. More details coming soon.

WCI Rush Hour Resistance

As part of the nationwide Visibility Brigade movement, we posted the same message being shared across the country this weekend in support of the EYES on ICE coalition: ICE CAMPS KILL.

VB was asked to create a broader awareness with our overpass capabilities to stop this madness and to bring attention to their plight. This week's coordinated message is in conjunction with a national press release and petition.

Join us for our next message:

  • Feb. 13 at 3:15-4:30 PM
  • Appalachian Trail bridge over I-70

The bridge and the path to it are snow-covered so only those experienced with Mt. Everest-type conditions should come out this week! Check the website for updates in case of bad weather.

Email Dave Williams at dwilliams21783@gmail.com for more information.
