Keep Showing Up: Next BOCC Protest
Save the date! Join us Tuesday, July 21 at 9:00 AM outside the Washington County Board of County Commissioners meeting.
Bring a friend and help us keep the momentum going. Our continued presence has generated significant media attention and helped move several important local issues forward—including last week's decision to extend the proposed data center moratorium from 6 months to 12 months.
More details will be shared soon, but for now, mark your calendar and plan to join us!
The People's Mic Was Heard
Thank you to everyone who joined us for The People's Mic on June 30. From passionate speeches and heartfelt poetry to music and personal stories, our community showed up with courage, creativity, and conviction.
Word is we were heard loud and clear inside the Commissioners' meeting—and that's exactly why we keep showing up. Thank you to everyone who shared their voice and to those who came to listen and support. Photos taken by Todd Groesbeck
Standing with Howard County
Last week, WCI members traveled to Baltimore to stand alongside our friends in Howard County as they challenged a proposed ICE detention facility in Elkridge.
Despite the heat, a large crowd gathered outside the federal courthouse to oppose ICE detention expansion and advocate for more humane immigration policies. We are now awaiting the court's decision and stand ready to support Howard County however we can in the weeks ahead.

Pens to Power
Our next Pens to Power writing event will be held on Sunday, July 26, from 1:00–4:00 PM.
We'll continue preparing for our fall general election voter outreach campaign, and as always, we'll be collecting donations for Western Maryland IRC and/or Eliza's House. If you're able, please bring non-perishable or microwaveable food, rice, peanut butter, bread, jelly, or personal hygiene items.
Please RSVP to alicejimroberts@gmail.com for the address and to help us plan seating and supplies.
Help Us Beat the Stamp Hike
Forever Stamps increase by 4¢ each on July 12, so we're trying to stock up before prices go up. Every donated stamp helps us stretch our budget for this fall's large-scale voter mailing campaign.
Thank you for helping us reach more voters this fall!
