WC Indivisible: No Kings Is THIS SATURDAY!

October 13 Updates

This Saturday, we're taking over Public Square! No Kings 4: Power to the Polls is bringing music, art, community connections and voter information together for our first-ever No Kings Block Party. Plus, we're celebrating a successful Candidate Speed Dating event and a HUGE Pens to Power milestone: more than 5,000 election mailers!

There's plenty to celebrate—and plenty still to do. Here's what's happening this week!

Upcoming:

Oct. 16: Williamsport ICE Warehouse Protest

Oct. 16: Rush Hour Resistance

Oct. 17: No Kings Day: Power to the Polls

Weekly: Food Donation Drop Off at Hub City Brewery

Candidate Speed Dating: A First for Washington County!

What a night! Last Wednesday, 13 local candidates gathered at Hub City Vinyl for Washington County's first-ever Candidate Speed Dating event!

Candidates rotated between small groups of voters, answering thoughtful questions and having informal, face-to-face conversations.

The feedback was terrific — especially from younger voters, who appreciated the relaxed, stress-free format and the opportunity to get to know candidates without the formality of a traditional forum.

We're already looking forward to bringing Candidate Speed Dating back for the next election season!

A big thank-you to all the candidates and voters who helped make this first event a success!

No Kings Is THIS SATURDAY! Four Corners. One Community.

Come celebrate democracy, connect with your community and get ready for Election Day! This Saturday, No Kings 4: Power to the Polls takes over all four corners of Hagerstown's Public Square for our first-ever No Kings Block Party!

We're bringing together live music, singers, powerful speakers, local artists and community organizations for two hours of activities, conversation and civic engagement.

Here's what's happening around the Square:

  • Donuts + Democracy: Get voter information and learn about early voting and registration.
  • Artists' Corner: Meet local artists and participate in a community art project.
  • Speakers & Rally: Hear from speakers, enjoy live performances and take part in the rally.
  • Community Corner: Connect with local nonprofits and learn about their work.

And yes, we're having an inflatable costume dance party! Bring your favorite inflatable costume and join the fun!

Saturday, October 17 | 11 AM–1 PM
Hagerstown Public Square
Washington & Potomac Streets

Bring your signs, bring your friends, and come enjoy an afternoon of community and civic participation!

5,000 Mailers — and Counting!

Pens to Power has officially SURPASSED our goal of sending 5,000 election mailers to Washington County voters! What an incredible accomplishment!

We're in the home stretch, with one more week to send as many mailers as possible before the November 3 election.

Want to help with the final push? Complete this quick form in the next few days. It's too late to mail materials, but we can arrange home delivery.

A huge thank-you to everyone who wrote mailers, donated stamps or contributed to this effort. Together, you've helped us reach thousands of households across Washington County!

Urgent: We Need 10 Rolls of Postcard Stamps!

Pens to Power needs 10 rolls of postcard stamps ASAP! We have important postcards ready to send to Washington County residents about the proposed ICE warehouse facility, but we've run out of stamps.

Can you help? There are three ways to contribute:

  • Donate through our ActBlue account. Make your donation amount end in 3 (for example, $5.03) so we know it's for stamps.
  • Mail a roll of postcard stamps to Washington County Indivisible, PO Box 87, Clear Spring, MD 21722.
  • Arrange pickup or delivery this week by emailing IndivisibleLetters@gmail.com.

Thank you for helping us get these postcards in the mail!

Next WCI Rush Hour Resistance

Meet us on the Appalachian Trail bridge on Friday, October 16 at 4:30 PM to help set up, or stop by before 6:00 PM to wave. Our letters aren't waterproof, so we cancel if it's raining.

If you have any suggestions for the message, please send them ASAP! Keep it to 30 characters (including spaces) or less.

Email Dave Williams at dwilliams21783@gmail.com for more information.
