One Year of Silence Is Enough

Washington County Indivisible and Hagerstown Rapid Response are teaming up to host the Sound of Silence Rally on June 9 at 9:00 AM outside the County Administration Building.

The rally marks one full year without public comment at Board of County Commissioners meetings and will be our largest demonstration yet opposing the BOCC's cooperation with DHS and ICE in their attempt to open the proposed detention warehouse in Williamsport.

People from across the region are traveling to stand in solidarity with our community. We hope you'll join us.

VOTING UPDATES

Ballot Update: Democratic County Commissioners

Three of the eight Democrats who filed to run for County Commissioner withdrew from the race after the official March 6 withdrawal deadline. As a result, their names will still appear on the primary ballot.

Democratic voters will still be asked to select up to five candidates from a list of eight names. The five remaining active candidates are:

  • Jonathan Fish
  • Les McIntosh, Sr.
  • Teri Pailen
  • Lara A. Shepherd
  • Dave Williams

Please help spread the word so voters are aware which Democratic County Commissioner candidates remain active in the race.

Our First Local Mail Campaign Is Complete! 🎉

Washington County, you showed up!

In just three weeks, our volunteers wrote and mailed 3,700 election guides to voters across the county. Together, we provided clear, easy-to-follow information about the primary election and helped encourage civic participation right here at home.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who wrote letters, donated supplies, contributed stamps, helped organize, or attended our writing events. This effort was truly a community accomplishment, and it wouldn't have happened without you.

We're incredibly proud of what we achieved together. Now, take a well-deserved break, rest those writing hands, and get ready — because we'll be back at it again, even bigger and better, for the general election!

Next WCI Rush Hour Resistance

This week marks our one-year anniversary messaging on the bridge over I-70. We are on our summer schedule of 4:30-6:00. Meet us on the Appalachian Trail bridge on Friday, June 12 at 04:30 PM to help set up, or stop by before 6:00 PM to wave. Our letters aren't waterproof, so we cancel if it's raining and the forecast for Friday does not look promising.

If you have any suggestions for the message, please send them ASAP! Keep it to 30 characters (including spaces) or less.

Email Dave Williams at dwilliams21783@gmail.com for more information.
